Lately I have been getting more and more interested in lucid dreaming- becoming aware you are dreaming while inside a dream. So far I have had two in my life. My first lucid dream I had when I was very little living in Rapid City, South Dakota. Then I had one last summer the night before my Rascal Flatts concert, July 18th. Before that one I had been somewhat trying to induce one but stopped as I had gotten bored with it. A couple weeks later is when I had the second lucid dream. I was in a dream where I was on some hill. I don't remember what was happening but I do remember diving into a pond. When I was underwater I realized I could breathe so by then I knew I was dreaming. After that I started flying, which is what most people do when they first experience a lucid dream from all the research I have done. I was flying low over all these hills with buffalo on some. The sky was a light purple color and I got so excited that I woke up. And that was the end of that one.
But since then I've lost a lot of interest in the subject of lucid dreaming, until about a few weeks ago or so.
I find myself reading peoples experiences of lucid dreaming on forums and other sites and learning more and more about lucid dreaming every day. A technique that I like that induced LD's is called the Wake Back to Bed method (WBTB). I've tried it only a few times and have had no success (because I haven't kept at it like I should have been). WBTB consists of getting up 5-6 hours after going to sleep and staying up for 30 minutes to an hour. Then go back to bed and get at least another hour and a half of sleep. Anyway, after practicing this method, I experienced a LOT of dreams within the hour and a half. Not only did I have a lot of dreams but they were vivid. Very vivid. On the verge of lucidity vivid. So I think if I keep at working on this method of LD induction I will start to have LD's. Right when I'm about to start having LD's I lose interest and stop using this method so I don't give it a chance to kick in.
So my plan... My plan is to keep with it and practice WBTB every morning until I can achieve lucidity regularly. When I do experience a lucid dream I will make a post about it and keep them organized so I can look back and see my progress...and of course give my readers (if I had any :p) something to read. Wish me luck with my journey! And after I master lucidity I plan to go even further with it and work on achieving astral travel and having Out of Body Experiences (OBE's). You should try inducing a lucid dream sometime. It's amazing and makes many people, even me, question what reality really is and if there could be multiple realities. Thanks for reading!
